For
a number of years, Ive been driven by one passion: woodworking.
In
the past, Alain Talbot has operated carving studios and he
taught this art. Early in 1999, he opened his artisan workshop
and focused on one speciality: artistic wooden boxes or caskanets.
After
some research into the field, he decided to specialise in
working with fine Quebec woods. From the reaction of people
who first saw his caskanets, he realised that the use of native
Quebec woods piqued both the appreciation and curiosity
of his customers.
There
is no limit to Alain Talbots creative spirit. He has
made an ancient profession come to life again and took that
name for his line of work: coffretier or caskenet-maker.
He
is forever creating new designs. He even imagines new designs
in his dreams. He has already worked out so many designs that
they pile up on his desk. His only obstacles are the lack
of time and space to accomplish his work.
In
1993, Alain Talbot invented his relaxation bench,
an exceptional object inspired by techniques learned during
a course in Japanese Amma massages. While you
sit close to the ground, the bench helps relax the back and
offers surprising comfort. It is perfect for people who work
standing or sitting for long periods. Lightweight, it is also
great for outdoors concerts.
